Seismic Station: GPS

GPS Antenna and relay box.

This panel contains the power supply, and

the soon to bemounted GPS equipment.

The GPS antenna is mounted in a clearing near the main power lines about 50 feet away from the site.

The small white cap is pointed directly upward to receive data from on average 3-5 satellites. Although exact latitude and

longitude is necessary for the analyzation of the data received from the Lehigh seismometer, the most important GPS data received

is the universal time. This is used to determine the distance to the focus of an earthquake and aid in determining its exact location.
