Lehigh River Tributary Sampling

This project, undertaken in part by Lehigh Earth Observatory (LEO), consists of sampling 16 streams, which will be analyzed for common water quality parameters as well as light transparency. The sampling sites include seven sites at the headwaters of the Little Lehigh Creek, five sites on Switzer Creek, which is a major tributary to Jordan Creek, and four sites on Mill Creek, also a major tributary to Jordan Creek. The duration of the project is expected to be approximately three years and was commenced on April 26, 2002. Weekly sampling was performed every Tuesday morning at all 16 sites, a round-trip of approximately 92 miles starting and finishing at Williams Hall, Lehigh University. Storm event sampling is also performed after rain events large enough to change stream stage height. GIS coverages of the study area and procedures for lab and sampling techniques are included in this presentation.
