Oversight for Observatory Activities is provided by a faculty-student Operating Board working with LEO Staff. The Operating Board includes four students representing a range of disciplines and eight faculty members from participating departments. The board is responsible for overseeing the operation and development of the observatory.

The heart and soul of LEO is its student interns. The student interns come from all grade levels and from all majors to work on the various ongoing projects offered by LEO. Each intern is assigned to an adviser who oversees the intern's work and offers advise when needed. The students are the most critcal part to LEO's foundation, working hard to make sure that each project meets the goals set forth at the start of each semester.
