Lacawac Sanctuary Lacawac Sanctuary is one of the three sites at which research is being conducted for the Salamanders Response to Climate Change (SRCC) project. The Sanctuary was established in 1966 by L. Arthur Watres and Mrs. Reyburn Watres as a not-for-profit private foundation, having as an objective the preservation of Lake Lacawac and its watershed. This private 500 acre preserve in Northeastern Pennsylvania is devoted to research, public education, and conservation. Within its confines the Sanctuary supports diverse aquatic and terrestrial habitats including a 52 acre natural lake. |
