Lehigh River Water Trail: River Guide Mapping

Our objective is to create a water resistant, large scale map of the 70 mile Lehigh River Water Trail from White Haven to Easton, PA. This map is intended to be taken on the river with boaters of all skill levels to assist a safe passage. The map will identify obstructions, suggested route, riffles/rapids, islands, hydraulics & waves, bridges and roads (crossing river), buoys, visible landmarks, river access point locations, portages necessary, portage access between river and canal, and river & canal water trail loops. Due to the length of the river trail and subsequent large scale of the map, we intend to have this map in manageable sections, similar to the Appalachian Trail hiking maps or Delaware River Guide Map.

Looking for an intern with experience in art and architecture to compile these final maps. This position will utilize current GPS maps showing the obstructions, suggested route, riffles/rapids, islands, hydraulics & waves, bridges and roads (crossing river), buoys, visible landmarks, river access point locations, portages necessary, portage access between river and canal, and river & canal water trail loops.
