Lehigh River Hydroprobe

The Lehigh River drains an area of over1,364 square miles, with more than one million
people living and working within the watershed. The river provides water for homes, business, and industry in the Lehigh Valley and serves as a major source of recreation. The health and vitality of the river and its tributaries directly impacts our lives. LEO, has a special interest in water quality research on the Lehigh River and its many tributaries. In partnership with the Wildlands Conservancy, LEO is working to develop a water quality database for the Lehigh River.

Internship involves:

  • Weekly operation and maintenance of Hydrolab DataSonde, measures: pH, specific conductance / resistivity, salinity /TDS, % saturation, dissolved oxygen, redox potential depth / level, and turbidity
  • Continued development of water quality database
  • Continured web page development, information and data access
  • GIS database development
  • Preparation of written report documenting progress and results
  • Prepare resource materials

Background and interest in environmental science, ecology, or hydrology a plus. Car required.
