Projections for GIS Coverages Written by Cliff Buck The most useful projections for our coverages would be Stateplane and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM). ARC/Info was used to reproject these coverages into the appropriate coverages:. Project into Stateplane: Arc> project cover <in cover> <out cover> Arc> output Arc> projection stateplane Arc> units feet Arc> zone 5151 Arc> parameters Arc> end Project into UTM: Arc> project cover <in cover> <out cover> Arc> output Arc> projection utm Arc> units meters Arc> zone 18 {Select zone 18 for Eastern} Arc> parameters Arc> end Other ARC/Info commands that were used while managing these coverages are described in the help books located in Room 406 Williams Hall. These include Shapearc, Mapjoin, Build, Clean, Clip, Copy, and Import. Please see the help books for descriptions on the use of these commands. |
