EES 303. Active Tectonics An integrative look at how internal and external processes shape the Earth. Review of the observations and evidence leading to a unified understanding of how physical processes in the Earth's interior shape the external surface on which we roam. Topics include issues in continental dynamics such as mountain building, basin formation, and the interplay between tectonics and climate. Lectures, problem sets, modeling excercises, student projects and presentations. Prerequisites: EES Tier 1 sequence (EES 21 and 31), at least five courses in EES Tier 2 or 3. |
