Research Opportunity in Environmental Change, Spring, 2006 (more information soon)
Undergraduate students can get involved in applications of stable
isotopes and related other records (tree rings, lake sediments, cave deposits)
of regional environmental change. If you are interested in doing this in the
spring, you would register for EES 287 (2 credits; "Introduction to Environmental
Isotopes") and 2 credits of LEO internship (for a total of 4 credits, you
must register for EES 287 to be involved in the LEO internship, as they will
be closely coordinated). This work will be collaborative with Dr. Zicheng Yu
(see his web page), and will involve
not only laboratory work (in the EES stable
isotope laboratory, room 116), but also the related field work to collect
samples on which we'll do the isotope work. To get a feel for the what the tree
ring work entails, please see the poster by Andrew Allen (recent EES alum!)
hung on the bulletin board outside Williams room 412 (the LEO computer lab across
from the EES 131 laboratory). Please e-mail me (geb0@lehigh.edu) with any questions.
